The Western Front Today - Ancre Cemetery

Ancre British cemetery, sited nearby both Ulster Tower and Beaumont-Hamel Newfoundland Memorial Park, is located on what was once No Man's Land in early November 1916 during the closing stages of the Somme Offensive.

The cemetery comprises burials consolidated (after the war) from cemeteries in the area, including those of men who were killed on 1 July 1916 (from the Ulster Division), the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
